An Urban Oasis
Always in Style
When Village District was built, it was one of the first shopping and residential communities of its kind and it has continued to maintain a progressive mindset for 75 years. The Village is an integral neighborhood hub that strikes a nuanced balance between timeless and timely; bringing the Raleigh community together to celebrate, savor and enjoy since 1949.
Village District, Serving the Community Since 1949
Village District has been a favorite neighborhood destination for shoppers and diners since 1949 and in fact, is the oldest shopping center in the southeast! The Village is where first dates were had, anniversaries are celebrated and where traditions were born. We look forward to bringing the Raleigh community together.
Art
Several new art pieces and murals have found a home in Village District, bringing creativity and vibrancy to the area. Highlights include custom spinning block mirrors by Kate Gausche of Chroma Studio and notable bronze statues such as The Girl with the Umbrella and Daydreaming Boy designed by Belgian artist Thoc, along with Children Reading on a Park Bench designed by late 20th-century artist Max Turner.
Murals by artist, Sean Kernick include a 2,000+ sq. ft. piece along Cameron Street that celebrates Raleigh’s diverse landscape and showcases native foliage and wildlife, while “Mural Alley,” between Winestore and Piccola Italia, invites visitors to explore Village history through an interactive design.
