Job Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The UPS Store location, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient store performance, and adherence to The UPS Store brand standards. This role oversees staff management, sales growth, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction while maintaining a professional and positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Customer Service
• Manage daily store operations including shipping, printing, mailbox services, and retail sales
• Ensure outstanding customer service and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally including claims and adjustments
• Maintain compliance with The UPS Store operational standards, policies, and procedures
• Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily reporting
Staff Management
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise store associates
• Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and employee evaluations
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
• Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet business needs
• Responsible for employee training
• Daily work lists for employees to keep the store stocked, clean and functioning
Sales & Business Development
• Drive sales growth through excellent service, local marketing, and upselling store products and services
• Build relationships with small businesses and community partners
• Monitor sales metrics and implement strategies to improve performance – daily and weekly and monthly sales versus LY
Financial & Administrative Duties
• Manage expenses and inventory control
• Responsible for quarterly audit
• Prepare reports related to sales, payroll, and operational performance
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with franchise requirements
• Upload USPS into the Gateway and keep it up to date for quarterly audit
• Add new employees to the POS system
Facility & Equipment Management
• Ensure store cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance
• Maintain inventory levels for supplies and retail products
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
• 6+ years of retail management or customer service leadership experience
• 2-3 years of management experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with computers, POS systems, and basic business software
• Experience with printing, shipping, or small business services is a plus
• Notary not required but a bonus
• 3 professional references required of former employers
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs
